History of Orthodontics

The problem of unaligned teeth has been present since time immemorial. But the first description of orthodontics was by Dr. Norman Kingsley in 1850 AD. In the 1890s, replacement of teeth by artificial substitutes was introduced. The study of how teeth bite together also began. The first to highlight the importance of occlusion was Dr. Edward Angle, considered as the “Father of Modern Orthodontics.”
