There are distinct differences with the two for the first type does cause most of the known dental phobias around and they are usually based on guess work, the dentist determining the best dose to attain ample sedation. This is truly hit and miss for you may get too much and worse not enough sedation that can lead to more stress or anxiety with the procedure.

IV sedation allows controlled, constant administration of the sedative directly through the bloodstream thus is faster acting than pills or other forms of sedation. It is also easier to adjust the dose as needed with almost immediate effects. You being the patient are still in control though for you can choose which form of sedation you may want.

The cost of basic orthodontic procedures can get quite expensive. It’s one reason why parents are quite apprehensive about any news coming from their dentist, especially if that news include having their child undergo orthodontic procedures in order to correct an alignment in the teeth because this would usually mean wearing braces, which can be really expensive and would put a dent in any household budget.
There’s really no going around this expense when the child is deemed a candidate for orthodontic devices. Fortunately, most dentists accept staggered payments for braces because they know of the cost and because the child would need to visit the dentist anyway for continuous adjustments.

A step further you get the best of both worlds indeed with the Damon System that uses teeth anchors that are invisible and eliminates the use of those nasty rubber bands that pull teeth into alignment.

Instead of wires that have to be adjusted frequently, locked in place by pins, the system uses a slider type fastening system that sort of ratchets using better and less painful technology. Less pain with less visits to the dentists office is the best of both worlds indeed for dental patients so do check it out, it may be the best thing for your smile!

It seems that more people are heavily investing in the way their teeth looks and paying the high cost of cosmetic dental procedures. However, these procedures may help but it doesn’t solve the real problem—it only covers it up.

“Adults considering cosmetic dental procedures to cover unsightly teeth should first consult an orthodontist, who can work with the patient’s general dentist and other dental specialists to produce the desired results,” says Donald R. Joondeph, DDS, MS, orthodontist and president of AAO. “Patients may be pleasantly surprised to learn that their unattractive teeth are generally healthy, just misaligned.”

If the real problem is not taken care of, it could lead to increased risk for tooth decay and gum disease. Remember to ask your orthodontist, which is the best way to take care of your teeth.

Dental conditions may cause migraine. Pain around the head is a symptom of neuromuscular and skeletal imbalance above the shoulders. Once the imbalance is found, the migraine may go away. Okay, here are possible sources, please confirm if you have the following:

Do your jaws look like they’re out of alignment? It’s most likely an overbite or an underbite. These dental conditions compresses the joint, skull bone, and brain tissue. Go to an orthodontist and have this checked immediately.

Do you wear dentures? As jaws shrink due to old age, dentures get a bit loose and are more unstable. This results to the same conditions as above.

When you have retainers, you normally remove it before you eat. Of course, as you don’t want cauliflowers dangling over your retainers after you eat. So what will you do? Maybe get a tissue or napkin from your bag and wrap your retainers with it?

Oh no. If you have been doing this for quite some time, stop. You might experience some problems when you don’t change this habit of yours. The waitress might think it is trash or perhaps, just some used tissue lying around and throw it in the bin. You may not even notice that the waitress carried away your precious retainers (how could you? You were laughing with your friends.).

So, to prevent this from happening, you might as well want to get those plastic containers specially made for retainers. It’s handy and you can put it inside your bag or purse (at least, it won’t be mistaken as something else).

So you’ve decided to go have braces and decide to make an appointment with an orthodontist. Before you start the procedure, ask questions. Here are some possible inquires from archwired.com that will help:

Will those “invisible” braces (clear aligners) work for me? If not, why?

Will I need metal braces? On the uppers, lowers, or both?

Will I need headgear or other appliances? If so, how long will I need to wear it, and how many hours per day? When, in the treatment process, would the headgear be introduced?
Will any teeth need to be extracted?

If I had a poking wire, could I just call and then drop in to get it clipped, or do I need to make an appointment for that?
