Root of the Problem

It seems that more people are heavily investing in the way their teeth looks and paying the high cost of cosmetic dental procedures. However, these procedures may help but it doesn’t solve the real problem—it only covers it up.
“Adults considering cosmetic dental procedures to cover unsightly teeth should first consult an orthodontist, who can work with the patient’s general dentist and other dental specialists to produce the desired results,” says Donald R. Joondeph, DDS, MS, orthodontist and president of AAO. “Patients may be pleasantly surprised to learn that their unattractive teeth are generally healthy, just misaligned.”
If the real problem is not taken care of, it could lead to increased risk for tooth decay and gum disease. Remember to ask your orthodontist, which is the best way to take care of your teeth.
